The county is located in northern Arkansas, about 50 km from the Missouri border and covers an area of 1,728 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history

Searcy County was formed on December 13, 1838 from parts of Marion County. It was named after Richard Searcy , an early pioneer of the Arkansas Territory.

As of the 2000 census , Searcy County had 8,261 people in 3,523 households and 2,466 families. The population density was 5 people per square kilometer.
