Žatecko microregion

The Žatecko microregion ( Czech Republic ) is a voluntary association of municipalities in the Louny district with its headquarters in Staňkovice , which was established in February 2000. Its aim is the economic development and improvement of employment, environmental protection and the coordination of investment projects.

In addition to Staňkovice, the following 16 municipalities are currently involved:

The region of 24,306 hectares and 7,200 inhabitants is located at an average altitude of 200 m in the western and southwestern part of the Louny district . The eponymous city of Žatec does not belong to the microregion and the Libočany municipality is also a member of the Nechranicko microregion .

The region extends in a ring around the town of Žatec . The Eger flows through it with the tributaries Chomutovka , Hutná , Liboc and Blšanka . In May 2004 a partner contract was signed with the German city of Jöhstadt .

The most important traffic connection is the trunk road I / 27 from Plzeň to Most and in the northern part the expressway R7 from Praha to Chomutov and the railway lines Plzeň – Žatec and Praha – Chomutov .

The most interesting sights in the region include the Džbán Nature Park , Libočany and Líčkov chateaux, and the Church of St. Wenceslas in Nové Sedlo .
