Milo Urban
Milo Urban (born August 24, 1904 in Rabčice , Austria-Hungary , † March 10, 1982 in Bratislava ) was a Slovak writer , interpreter and journalist.
Life
Urban was born into the family of a forester. Because of the death of his father, he had long financial difficulties. Urban went to school in Zázrivá , Polhora , Trstená , Ružomberok and Banská Štiavnica . He worked in the magazines Slovenský národ , Vatra , Slovák and during the times of the First Slovak Republic (1939-1944) he was editor-in-chief of the magazine Gardista . After the war, Urban fled to Austria; the People's Court issued him a public reprimand in 1947.
After the war, Urban lived in Croatia before returning to Czechoslovakia in 1974. He devoted himself to literary activity and translated Czech, Polish and German books. His novel Živý bič is well known and was filmed in 1966 by Martin Ťapák .
