Miriam Ziegler (born March 19, 1994 in Oberpullendorf , Burgenland ) is an Austrian figure skater .
biography
The Burgenland native grew up in Stoob ( Oberpullendorf district ), lives in Vienna and goes to school there. Ziegler started figure skating in 1998 at the age of four. She is a member of the Vienna Ice Sports Club Engelmann and two-time Austrian national champion in figure skating (2009 and 2010). In 2008 she finished 19th at the Junior World Championships in Sofia , Bulgaria . Miriam Ziegler took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , making her the first Burgenland woman to take part in the Winter Olympics.
In the summer of 2010, she had a break after the Olympic season. She has been taking part in competitions again since 2011 and came third at the Austrian Figure Skating Championship in Graz in 2012.
In February 2012, she announced the end of her career, citing a lack of motivation and more time for her education as reasons. In 2013 she made a comeback. She has since started pair skating as a partner of Severin Kiefer .
