Mission: Impossible 7 is an American action film announced for 2021 . It is the seventh part of the Mission Impossible film series and the sequel to Mission: Impossible - Fallout from 2018. As with both previous films , Christopher McQuarrie will direct the film , while Tom Cruise will again play the leading role of IMF agent Ethan Hunt will appear.

production

In January 2019 it was announced that Paramount Pictures was planning two new Mission Impossible films. After Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible - Fallout , Christopher McQuarrie is to take over the direction again, while Tom Cruise will again be seen as IMF agent Ethan Hunt. The reason given for the production of two sequels was the ambition of director McQuarrie to give each character a personal story arc, which was too much for a single film. Over time, actors Rebecca Ferguson , Simon Pegg , Ving Rhames and Vanessa Kirby announced that they would appear again as Ilsa Faust , Benji Dunn , Luther Stickell and Alanna Mitsopolis . Following Mission: Impossible in 1996, Henry Czerny will re-appear as Eugene Kittridge . McQuarrie said of Czerny's commitment that he knew early on that the tone and shape of the film meant there was room for Kittridge to appear in a very specific scene, whereupon Czerny agreed. In September 2019, it was announced that Hayley Atwell was signed as the movie's first newcomer. According to her own statement, she will embody the main female role. Nicholas Hoult was initially cast as an opponent of Ethan Hunt . Due to the forced break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the related scheduling conflicts with another project, he was later replaced by Esai Morales . In November 2019, McQuarrie confirmed that Pom Klementieff will appear in both films, as will Shea Whigham , as the director announced a month later. As in the previous film, Lorne Balfe is said to be active as a composer . Furthermore, he should consider allowing the dead characters of Alec Baldwin and Henry Cavill to appear through flashbacks .

The shooting, which is to take place back to back with that of the eighth part , began on February 20, 2020 in Venice under the working title Libra . The first test recordings were taken on the Grand Canal and around the Rio Priuli , among other places . The cameraman is Fraser Taggart , who worked as a second unit director on both of the previous films. On February 24, it was announced that the local government had imposed a ban on gatherings in Venice due to the coronavirus epidemic in Italy , which also included the filming. The planned three-week filming in the city was then canceled and the film team was partially flown out. Film recordings in Rome , where they wanted to shoot in March 2020, could not be realized either. Instead, the compulsory break was used to test stunt equipment in London. In August 2020, filming is to continue in northwest Norway . The Norwegian government allowed Cruise and the other crew members to skip the ten-day quarantine after entering the country, but in return the film team would have to isolate themselves completely from the public. A return to Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden is scheduled for September 2020. In the United Kingdom, too, the two-week quarantine can be avoided with a special permit. The plan is to finish filming in May 2021 at the latest, and hope to be able to film in all of the locations originally planned. As with both previous films, Eddie Hamilton is said to be the film editor . The finished film should ultimately contain three big stunts by Cruise, for which the actor trained intensively and which would put the helicopter chase from Mission: Impossible - Fallout in the shade.

The film was originally scheduled to be in US cinemas on July 23, 2021, but was postponed to November 19, 2021 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic . The German theatrical release should take place the day before.
