Mort Mills
Mort Mills (born January 11, 1919 in New York City , † June 6, 1993 in Ventura , California ; actually Mortimer Morris Kaplan ) was an American film and television actor .
life and career
He was frequently seen in the role of sheriff or villain in many westerns of the 1950s and 1960s. From 1957 to 1959 he played a supporting role in 23 episodes at the side of Rex Reason as Marshal Frank Tallman in the western series The Man Without a Colt . He had other series roles as Sergeant Ben Landro in Perry Mason and Sheriff Fred Madden in Big Valley . In addition to his television roles, he also appeared regularly in movies. In Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller Psycho, he played a patrolman chasing Marion Crane ( Janet Leigh ). Six years later he worked again with Hitchcock and played a spy in East Germany in The Torn Curtain . Mills also appeared with Charlton Heston in Orson Welles ' In Signs of Evil . In 1973 he retired from the acting business after around 140 film and television appearances.
His cousin was the actress Mary Treen . Mill's first marriage, which had two children, ended in divorce. His second marriage lasted from 1956 until his death, from this marriage there was a child.
