The Mugel is a 1630 meter high mountain in the Gleinalpe near Niklasdorf in Styria . On the summit of the Mugel there is a summit cross and the Mugelschutzhaus (formerly Hans-Prosl-Haus ).

Shelter

The shelter was built in 1904 by the ÖTK and was only later given the name of the section chairman Jakob-Hans Prosl. From 2011 to 2013 the hut was rebuilt as a Mugelschutzhaus ( 1626  m ).

Channel

Mugel transmitter

Around 830 meters north-north-west of the Mugel summit, at 1433  m, is the Mugel transmitter ( Lage ), a transmitter for VHF and TV with an 88-meter-high transmission tower . The transmission tower has a similar design as the transmission tower of the Ochsenkopf transmitter .

Digital radio ( DAB + )

On May 26, 2020, the Mugel broadcaster began broadcasting the first Austria-wide MUX in the DAB + standard. DAB is broadcast in vertical polarization and in single-frequency mode with other transmitters.
