Multan District is an administrative district in Pakistan in Punjab Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Multan .
The district has an area of 3721 km² and according to the 2017 census 4,745,109 inhabitants. The population density is 1275 inhabitants / km². The Saraiki language is spoken by the majority in the district .
geography
The Multan district is in the north and northeast of Khanewal , in the east of Vehari and south of Lodhran surrounded. The Chenab River forms the western border with Muzaffargarh .
Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 2.32% annually. About 43% of the population live in urban areas and about 57% in rural areas. 2,437,412 men, 2,307,504 women and 193 transgender people live in 760,858 households , which results in a gender ratio of 105.6 men per 100 women and thus the usual surplus of men in Pakistan.
