Sheikhupura District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Punjab Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Sheikhupura .

The district has an area of ​​3030 km² and according to the census of 2017 3,460,426 inhabitants. The population density is 1,142 inhabitants / km². The Punjabi language is spoken by the majority in the district .

history

In 2005 Nankana Sahib was created from parts of the district.

geography

The district is located in the northeast of the Punjab Province, which is in the west of Pakistan. The district is composed of the 5 Tehsil Sheikhupura , Ferozewala , Muridke , Sharakpur and Safdarabad .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 2.20% annually.
