Okara District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Punjab Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Okara .
The district has an area of 4377 km² and according to the 2017 census 3,039,139 inhabitants. The population density is 694 inhabitants / km². The Panjabi language is spoken by the majority in the district .

The district is located in the northeast of the Punjab Province, which is in the west of Pakistan and has an international border with India .

Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 1.63% annually. Around 27% of the population live in urban regions and around 73% in rural regions. There are 1,564,476 men, 1,474,495 women and 168 transgender people in 493,180 households , which results in a gender ratio of 106.1 men per 100 women, which is a frequent male surplus for Pakistan. The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population over 10 years of age is 55% (women: 47%, men: 63%) and is thus below the Punjab province average of 63%.
