The district Hafizabad is an administrative district in Pakistan in the province of Punjab . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Hafizabad .

The district has an area of ​​2367 km² and, according to the 2017 census, 1,156,957 inhabitants. The population density is 796 inhabitants / km². The Panjabi language is spoken by the majority in the district .

geography

The Chanab River forms the northern and northwestern borders of the district. Hafizabad borders the Sheikhupura and Gujranwala districts in the east, the Mandi Bahauddin district in the north, the Sargodha district in the west, the Faisalabad district and the Chiniot district in the south. Hafizabad is 303 km from the federal capital Islamabad and 109 km from the provincial capital Lahore .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 1.74% annually. About 26% of the population live in urban areas and about 74% in rural areas. 584,823 men, 572,083 women and 51 transgender people live in 175,180 households , resulting in a gender ratio of 102.2 men per 100 women, which is a frequent male surplus for Pakistan.
