The Lodhran District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Punjab Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Lodhran . The district is divided into the three Tehsil Lodhran, Kahror Pakka and Dunyapur .
The district has an area of 1790 km² and 1,700,620 inhabitants according to the 2017 census. The population density is 950 inhabitants / km². The Saraiki language is spoken by the majority in the district .
history
Lodhran was split off as a separate district from Multan in 1991 .
geography
It is bounded by the Khanewal district to the north , Bahawalpur to the south, Vehari district to the east and Multan to the west . The Satluj River flows through the district.
Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 1.97% annually. About 43% of the population live in urban areas and about 57% in rural areas. 862,663 men, 837,873 women and 84 transgender people live in 262,650 households , which results in a gender ratio of 103 men per 100 women, which is the usual surplus of men in Pakistan.
The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population over 10 years of age was 53% (women: 40%, men: 65%) and is thus below the Punjab province average of 63%.
