The district Vehari is an administrative district in Pakistan in the province of Punjab . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Vehari .

The district has an area of ​​4,364 km² and according to the 2017 census 2,897,446 inhabitants. The population density is 660 inhabitants / km². The Panjabi language is spoken by the majority in the district .

geography

The district is bordered by Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur to the south, Pakpattan to the east, Khanewal and Lodhran to the west and Sahiwal and Khanewal to the north . The district lies on the right bank of the Satlej River , which forms its southern border.

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 1.73% annually. Around 17% of the population live in urban regions and around 83% in rural regions. 1,462,027 men, 1,435,212 women and 207 transgender people live in 458,068 households , which results in a gender ratio of 101.9 men per 100 women and thus a male surplus typical for Pakistan.
