Karl Andreas von Jasmund alias Henning Andreas von Jasmund (* 1685 in Vorwerk ; † May 2, 1752 in Tzschacksdorf ) was a Polish - Saxon general of the infantry .

Life

Origin and family

Karl Andreas was a member of the originally Rügish , later in Mecklenburg and beyond, noble family of Jasmund . His parents were Johann Wedige von Jasmund auf Vorwerk and Maria, née von Scheven.

He married Rahel Dorothea von Polenz († 1775) from the Schernewitz family, daughter of Hans Christian von Polenz († 1716) and Charlotte Elisabeth, née von Dallwitz . The marriage resulted in two daughters.

Career

Jasmund began his career in Russian service , where he advanced to major and took quarters as such for a year in Poland during the Great Northern War in 1710 and also spent the winter there. He followed Leberecht Jahnus († 1718) in the Saxon service in 1712 , where he became lieutenant colonel in 1713 and then adjutant general of Count von Wackerbarth († 1734). In 1723 Field Marshal Graf v. Flemming († 1728) a battalion of four companies of infantry , from which after merging with a Weimarschen battalion in 1730 the regiment on foot "Prince Xaver" (No. 8) was formed. Jasmund was promoted to colonel in 1724 and at the same time became commander of the 2nd Guards Regiment. He stayed in this regimental position for 10 years. He then rose to major general in 1734 and moved to Hungary with the Saxon auxiliary corps in 1737 . During the First Silesian War he was promoted to lieutenant general in 1740 and attended all campaigns of the Saxon army in Bohemia . He commanded the 2nd attack near Prague . In 1742 he captured Deutschbrot and helped clear the way for the Saxon troops through Moravia , where they came to a standstill. After the Peace of Wroclaw in 1742, he was given command in Lusatia . In the Second Silesian War he moved into Bohemia again in 1744 with the Saxon auxiliary corps and took part in the battles of Strigau and Kesselsdorf in 1745 , where his horse was shot twice and the sword was shot out of his hand. In March 1746 Jasmund was promoted to general of the infantry and head of a regiment on foot. Finally he received in October 1748 from August III. a golden sword, valued at 800 Reichstaler, and then retired to his Tzschacksdorf estate in Lausitz , half of which passed into the possession of his grandchildren, the children of his older daughter and his son-in-law von Thielau after his death.
