Myrtle Grove is a census-designated place (CDP) in Escambia County in the US state of Florida with 15,870 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Myrtle Grove is about 3 miles west of Pensacola . US Highways 90 ( SR 10A ) and 98 ( SR 30 ) and Florida State Roads 298 and 727 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 15,870 inhabitants were distributed over 6,955 households. The population density was 928.1 inh / km². 69.0% of the population identified themselves as whites , 18.4% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 5.1% as Asian Americans . 2.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.6% to several ethnic groups. 6.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 30.4% of all households and people aged 65 or over lived in 29.2% of all households. 62.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.94.

26.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 30.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 23.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 19.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 33 years. 51.7% of the population were male and 48.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 41,513, with 23.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 92.81% of the population, 3.79% spoke Spanish and 3.40% had another mother tongue.
