The 1998/99 season was the 17th edition of the highest Finnish women's ice hockey league , the Naisten SM-sarja . The league was carried out by the Finnish ice hockey association Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto .

mode

Each team played a preliminary round with 14 games. There were 2 points for a win and one for a draw. The first four teams in the preliminary round qualified for the play-off semi-finals. Then the first six played another round among themselves to determine who would take part in the semi-finals.

In the preliminary round, a single round (return leg) was played. The first six teams qualified for the main round, the last two were eliminated.
