Nenad Stanković ( Ненад Станковић , born August 8, 1977 in Gornji Milanovac , Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian football player . In 2007 he was with NSÍ Runavík Champion and Footballer of the Year of the Faroe Islands .

Career

The midfielder Stanković played in his home country for the clubs FK Metalac and FK Mačva Šabac, among others . In 2004 he moved to the Faroe Islands, initially to Skála ÍF . He qualified for the 2005 UEFA Intertoto Cup with Skála . In the 2005 season, Skála reached second place in the Formuladeildin and thus took part in qualifying for the UEFA Cup . After his work permit was not extended, however, Stanković missed much of the following season and was not used in the two qualifying games. He only returned to Skála during the summer break.

For the 2007 season, Stanković moved to NSÍ Runavík , where he had his most successful year. For the first time in the club's history, Runavík was Faroese champion. Stanković was considered one of the players who played a major role in the success. He was voted Faroe Islands' Footballer of the Year that season. His teammates at the time included Jóhan Troest Davidsen , Hjalgrím Elttør , Jónhard Frederiksberg , Christian Høgni Jacobsen , Jens Martin Knudsen , Bogi Løkin , Pól Thorsteinsson and Einar Tróndargjógv .

In 2008, the Cup winners EB / Streymur were defeated 4-0 in the Supercup game . Overall, however, Stanković could not build on his previous good performances this season. For the 2009 season he left Runavík.

In the following years he played for one season each with B68 Toftir , Víkingur Gøta and KÍ Klaksvík . With Víkingur he played again in 2010 as the reigning cup winner in the Supercup, where the game was lost 2-1 to champions HB Tórshavn . After the 2011 season he moved to the third Serbian division to FK Železničar Lajkovac . In summer 2012 he came back to the Faroe Islands and played for TB Tvøroyri . After the season he left the club. From 2014 to 2016 Stanković played with interruptions at the lower-class Icelandic club Knattspyrnufelagid Aegir.

European Cup

In 2005, Stanković played with Skála ÍF in the UEFA Intertoto Cup . However, the club retired in the first round after a 0-2 and 0-1 against Tampere United . As a champion, he entered 2008/09 with NSÍ Runavík in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League . After a 3-0 first leg defeat against Dinamo Tbilisi , the second leg could be won 1-0, with Stanković was considered an outstanding player. 2010/11 Stanković took part with Víkingur Gøta in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League . Against Beşiktaş Istanbul both games were lost 3-0 and 4-0 respectively.
