Surname
The second part of the name of Niedersteinbach is derived from the Steinbach brook , which comes from the district of Dörnsteinbach, flows through the "Alten Grund" and flows into the Kahl in Niedersteinbach . The determinant Nieder comes from a time when the village Steinbach consisted of the three individual villages Obersteinbach , Mittelsteinbach and Niedersteinbach . The name went from Niedersteinbach to the closed place. In the Kahlgründer dialect the place is called "Stoamich" [ 'ʃtɒːmɪç ], which sometimes leads to confusion with the nearby Steinbach .
history
When the village was built cannot be determined with certainty. According to the existing documents, it can be assumed that it was founded late and that it originated in the 13th century. Presumably the place existed already in 1184.
Niedersteinbach is documented for the first time in 1325, when it still belonged to the Krombach Regional Court and then came to the Counts of Rieneck as a fief of the Archdiocese of Mainz .
The Rieneckers, in turn, passed it on to the Lords of Büdingen as a loan . After their extinction, Niedersteinbach fell to the Groschlag von Dieburg .
In 1666 Niedersteinbach was acquired by Philipp Erwein von Schönborn , along with the rest of the district court , and remained in the possession of his descendants until 1803. By the Austrian State Treaty, the place finally came to Bavaria in 1816 .
The community Niedersteinbach belonged to the Alzenau district office , which was formed on July 1, 1862. On January 1, 1939, this became part of the Alzenau district in Lower Franconia .
Niedersteinbach, which until around 1900 consisted of the three villages Obersteinbach , Mittelsteinbach and Niedersteinbach , has closed the gaps in the village through busy house construction and now appears as a contiguous street village . Today the names Oberdorf , Mitteldorf and Unterdorf are reminiscent of the three individual villages.
