Night Visions is the first studio album by the American band Imagine Dragons . It was released on September 4, 2012.

Before the band signed with Interscope Records , three EPs were released: Imagine Dragons EP and Hell and Silence EP in 2010 and It's Time in 2011. On February 14, 2012, their debut EP on Interscope, Continued Silence, followed . Various songs from Night Visions were previously included on the EPs. Imagine Dragons appeared in July 2012 with the song It's Time on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno . Outside North America, the album was released on February 1, 2013.

criticism

Night Visions received mixed reviews. Alex Young from Consequence of Sound particularly praised the song It's Time and the general radio friendliness of the album as well as the various styles of music represented, but criticized that the tracks were sometimes too predictable and interchangeable and finally described the album as a disappointment compared to previous releases by Tape. Las Vegas Weekly's Annie Zaleski rated the album 3.5 stars out of five, praising the songwriting and creativity, but notes that the band sounded cheesy and over-the-top at times. Gregory Heaney from Allmusic awarded three out of five stars, he makes comparisons with Coldplay and describes the songs as emotional mid-tempo jams, dramatic, rousing and soundtrack-compatible.

The album won a Billboard Music Award in the Top Rock Album category. Furthermore, the song Radioactive received a Billboard Music Award in the Top Streaming Song (Audio) category .

Night Visions was a great worldwide chart success and was able to reach the top ten in many countries and was also represented in the charts in numerous countries for well over a year. In the band's homeland, the album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and sold over 83,000 times in the first week. It was on the US charts for over 400 weeks. In the UK it also reached number two in Germany in sixth place in Austria in eighth place and in Switzerland in ninth place. Further top ten placements were achieved in Australia , New Zealand , the Netherlands , Norway and Sweden , among others . The album debuted at number one in Scotland . In the US, Night Visions was the most streamed album of 2013 on Spotify .

Four singles from Night Visions entered the Billboard Hot 100 , two of which reached the top ten. The first single It's Time was released on February 6, 2012, shortly before the EP Continued Silence was released . In addition to Night Visions , the song was included on the Extended Plays It's Time and Continued Silence . It reached number 15 in the US and was awarded a platinum record. The most successful single was Radioactive , it reached top ten placements in many countries around the world and number one in Sweden . In the United States, the single received a diamond record for over ten million units sold. Even in Canada , the single achieved diamond status. The singles Demons and On Top of the World , released in 2013, were able to follow up on their success internationally and also achieved high chart positions worldwide. The title Hear Me reached the Top 40 of the UK charts for a week. With the success of Radioactive and Demons , Imagine Dragons became the first band to feature two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 for over 60 weeks each.
