Ninel Miculescu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ninel Miculescu (born May 15, 1985 ) is a former Romanian weightlifter . He became the European lightweight champion in 2010 (duel, snatch and push).

Career

Ninel Miculescu started lifting weights as a teenager. He is a member of CS Dinamo Bucharest sports club and has been coached by Petre Becheru since joining the Romanian national weightlifting team.

As early as 1999 he was in Lignano Junior European Champion (U 16) in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight with an output of 162.5 kg (72.5–90) ahead of the Bulgarian Iwan Stoizow , who many years later became world champion in the middleweight division. after that it was suspended for doping.

Ninel Miculescu won in the junior division in 2003 at the European Championships in Valencia in featherweight with 270 kg (125-145) again a silver medal. Then he finished in 2004 and 2005 in two junior European championships and a junior world championship in a duel each fourth place. It already became apparent that tearing is his strength, but pushing is his weakness. This was also evident at the Junior European Championships 2005 in Trencin , where he was junior European champion in snatching the lightweight with 143 kg .

In 2005 he finished 9th at the World Seniors Championships in Doha in the lightweight with 305 kg (140-165). The winner there was the Chinese Shi Ziyong with 360 kg (160-190). At the European Championships in 2006 in Władysławowo / Poland, he increased in a duel to 321 kg (148-166). With this performance he would have finished fourth in a duel and would have won the European championship title in the snatch with 148 kg. But nothing came of that, because he was subsequently disqualified for doping and banned for 2 years.

Due to this ban, he missed the opportunity to participate in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . In 2009, however, he came back to the competition and took 5th place in a duel at the European Championships in Bucharest in the lightweight with 323 kg (150-173). In the snatch, he was runner-up in Europe with a weight of 150 kg. At the 2009 World Championships in Goyang / South Korea, he increased to 328 kg (155-173) and came in fourth in a duel. He missed a medal in a duel due to his relative weakness in pushing, where he only succeeded in the first attempt. In the snatch, however, he became vice world champion with 155 kg .

At the European Championships in Minsk in 2010 , Ninel Miculescu showed himself to be better in pushing. He managed there in a duel 333 kg (153-180) and won all three gold medals with this performance, in a duel, in snatch and in jerk. Second place in the duel went to Mikhail Gobeev from Russia with 319 kg (148-171) in front of Mete Binay from Turkey , who came to 314 kg (149-165). At the 2010 World Championships in Antalya , Ninel Miculescu improved in a duel to 337 kg (157-180) and was actually runner-up behind the outstanding Chinese Liao Hui , 358 kg (160-198). In the snatch he also won a bronze medal at the World Championships with a weight of 257 kg. The doping test taken at this world championship was positive again, so that he was banned for life by the weightlifting world association IMF. In addition, the Chinese Liao Hui was doped, so that Mete Binay was declared world champion.
