Nojabrsk ( Russian Ноя́брьск ) is a city with 110,620 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Russia .

Nojabrsk is located in northwest Siberia near the Arctic Circle , southeast of the Obbus . South of Nojabrsk lies the border with the Khanty and Mansi Autonomous Okrug / Ugra . The distance to Salekhard is 1065 km, to Tyumen 1550 km. The closest city is Muravlenko with around 80 km.

history

Nojabrsk is a young city that was only granted city rights in 1982.

The city's beginnings go back to 1973, when oil production began in this area. Residential buildings were built for the workers, and in November 1976 the Nojabrski settlement (literally "November settlement") was officially established. At the end of that year it already had 1,523 inhabitants. The settlement continued to grow, schools and roads were built. The city charter was granted on April 28, 1982.

In 2004 the settlement of Wyngapurowski, which had around 7200 inhabitants at that time, was incorporated into Nojabrsk.

Economy and Transport

The main industry of Nojabrsk is oil production . Gazprom Neft has a strong presence in the Nojabrsk region .

The city has a regional airport and a train station on the Surgut  - Novy Urengoy line .
