Muravlenko ( Russian Муравленко ) is a city in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug ( Russia ) with 33,391 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The city is located in the northern part of the West Siberian Lowlands , about 480 km southeast of the capital of the Salekhard Autonomous Okrug .

The city of Muravlenko forms a separate urban district , the territory of the Rajons Purowski surrounded.

Muravlenko is 80 kilometers west of the Khanymei station of the Tyumen  - Surgut  - Novy Urengoy railway line, which opened on this section in 1984 .

history

After construction began in 1982, the urban-type Murawlenkowski settlement was officially established in 1984. On August 6, 1990 its town charter was granted, and in 1991 the name was changed to its current form. It was named after Viktor Muravlenko, an oil engineer and the first director of Glawtjumenneftegas (the main administration of oil and natural gas exploration and production in Western Siberia during the Soviet Union ).

In Muravlenko there are branches of the Tyumen State University and the Tyumen State Oil and Gas University .

economy

Muravlenko is the center of the oil production on the deposits Murawlenkowskoje , Sutorminskoje , Kraineje , Sugmutskoje and other by Gazprom Neft (formerly Sibneft ).
