Geographical location

Nowy Suchoros is located in the southern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 19 kilometers southeast of the district town of Szczytno ( Ortelsburg in German  ).

history

Neu Suchorosz , before 1820 Neu Suchorowitz , consisted of a few small courtyards, belonging to the residential areas of the former Auerswalde estate and the Schatulldorf Neu Suchoross.

Between 1874 and 1945 the village was incorporated into the administrative district Wilhelmsthal ( Polish : Pużary ) in the East Prussian district of Ortelsburg . In 1910 Neu Suchoross had 94 inhabitants, in 1933 there were 69. Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population voted in the referendums in East and West Prussia on July 11, 1920 on the further state membership in East Prussia (and thus approved Germany) or the connection to Poland. In Neu Suchoross, 72 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not receive any votes.

On June 3 - officially confirmed on July 16 - 1938, Neu Suchoross was renamed "Auerswalde (Ostpr.)" For political and ideological reasons to avoid foreign-sounding place names. The population was 85 in 1939.

As a result of the war, the village came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name "Nowy Suchoros". Today it is a village within the rural community Rozogi (Friedrichsof) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the Ostrołęka Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship belongs.
