Obertitz is a district of the city of Groitzsch in the district of Leipzig (Free State of Saxony ). The place was incorporated into Droßkau in 1948 and with this to Großstolpen in 1966 . Großstolpen and its districts came back to the city of Groitzsch in 1996.

geography

Obertitz is located in the Leipzig lowland bay southeast of Groitzsch. The federal highway 176 runs to the north of the village and the Schnauder floodplain to the east . The area south of Obertitz was destroyed between 1974 and 1991 by the Groitzscher Dreieck open-cast mine belonging to the central German lignite district . The Groitzscher See was created in the remaining hole . The remaining mining field is to be reopened after 2025 as part of the United Schleenhain opencast mine . The plans for the “Groitzscher Dreieck construction site” also partly include the Obertitz location.

history

Obertitz with Schnauderaue

The dead end village Obertitz was first mentioned in 1548 and consists of several typical rural three-sided courtyards with half-timbered walls. The place, whose name is of Slavic origin, was around 1378 in the area of the County of Groitzsch , which was merged with the Pegau escort office to form the Pegau office in 1460 . From then until 1856 Obertitz was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Pegau. Around 1551, jurisdiction over the place lay partly with the Pegau monastery and the Löbnitz manor , and around 1606 and 1764 with the Mausitz manor . From 1856 the place belonged to the judicial office of Pegau and from 1875 to the district administration Borna .

On October 1, 1948, Obertitz was incorporated into Droßkau , with which the place was assigned to the Borna district in the Leipzig district in 1952 . The municipality of Droßkau with its two districts was incorporated into Großstolpen on April 1, 1966 . The municipality of Großstolpen had belonged to the Saxon district of Borna since 1990, which was added to the district of Leipziger Land in 1994 . When Großstolpen was incorporated into Groitzsch on January 1, 1996, Obertitz became a part of the town of Groitzsch.

Between 1974 and 1991 the Groitzscher Dreieck opencast mine destroyed the area south of Obertitz. Then the Groitzscher See emerged from the remaining hole . The mining field remaining north of the lake is to be reopened from 2030 as the "Groitzscher Dreieck mining field " of the United Schleenhain opencast mine . The Obertitz location was designated as a "reserved area".
