history

The cul-de-sac village of Brösen celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2007, so it was first mentioned in 1257. In the floodplain of the Schnauder south of the Köhlerhof there are remains of an early medieval rampart, which is assumed to be the starting point for the village of Brösen.

Brösen belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Pegau until 1856 . The jurisdiction over the place was around 1551 with the manor Groitzsch, around 1606 and 1764 with the manor Mausitz . From 1856 the place belonged to the judicial office of Pegau and from 1875 to the district administration Borna .

On October 1, 1948, Brösen was incorporated into Groitzsch, with which the place was assigned to the Borna district in the Leipzig district in 1952, the Borna district in Saxony in 1990, the Leipziger Land district in 1994 and the Leipzig district in 2008.

The Peres opencast mine, opened in 1963, dredged the area northeast of Brösen between 1975 and 1977. After its temporary closure in 1991, the area was renatured.
