Location of Oellschütz in Saxony

Oellschütz is a district of the city of Groitzsch in the district of Leipzig (Free State of Saxony ). The place was incorporated in 1948 after Hohendorf and with this in 1974 after Berndorf and 1996 in the city of Groitzsch.

geography

Oellschütz is located in the Leipzig lowland bay , six kilometers southeast of Groitzsch. The place is on the east bank of the Schnauder . Oellschütz is located in the Central German lignite mining area between the United Schleenhain coal mine associated mining fields Schleenhain the east and Groitzscher Triangle in the West. In the southwest is the Groitzscher See .

history

The Rundweiler Oellschütz was mentioned in 1312 as "Olsicz". Like the neighboring town of Langenhain, the place was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Pegau until 1856 . The jurisdiction over Oellschütz was around 1551 with the manor Löbnitz and 1606 or 1764 with the manor Mausitz . From 1856 the place belonged to the judicial office of Pegau and from 1875 to the district administration Borna .

On January 1, 1948, it was incorporated into Hohendorf . With the place Oellschütz came to the Borna district in the Leipzig district in 1952 and to Berndorf on January 1, 1974 . The location of Oellschütz in the central German lignite mining area had a negative impact on the place in the times of the GDR . While the Schleenhain opencast mine (1949–1991) passed in the east of the town, the neighboring western town of Langenhain was located in the planned mining area of the Groitzscher Dreieck opencast mine opened in 1974 . Due to the economic change accompanying the German reunification in 1989/90, the neighboring town was spared demolition due to the early shutdown of the Groitzscher Dreieck opencast mine on December 20, 1991.

As a district of Berndorf, Oellschütz came to the Saxon district of Borna in 1990 and to the district of Leipziger Land in 1994 . When Berndorf was incorporated into Groitzsch on January 1, 1996, Oellschütz became part of the town of Groitzsch.

The area to the west of the neighboring town of Langenhain is to be reopened from 2030 as the “Groitzscher Dreieck mining field ” of the United Schleenhain opencast mine .

traffic

Oellschütz is connected to the towns of Groitzsch and the town of Lucka , which is already in Thuringia, with the 7951 district road . This district road forms a road corridor in north-south direction in the Schnauderaue between the former Schleenhain and Groitzscher Dreieck opencast mines. In the north, it opens in the United Stolpen into the federal highway 176 one, which in turn is an east-west corridor through the United Schleenhain coal mine.
