Schleenhain was a village community in the Borna district in the Leipzig district that existed until 1965 and had to give way to lignite mining by the Schleenhain open-cast mine . The area of ​​the place belongs today to the city of Groitzsch in the Saxon district of Leipzig .

Geographical location

The Schleenhain corridor is to the west of what is now the United Schleenhain open-cast mine . To the west of the town hall are the districts of Langenhain and Hohendorf belonging to Groitzsch .

history

Schleenhain was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Borna until 1856 . From 1856 the place belonged to the Borna court office and from 1875 to the Borna district administration . In 1952 Schleenhain was assigned to the Borna district in the Leipzig district.

At that time, the Schleenhain opencast mine named after the location had been active since 1949. He approached the place from the south. In 1967/68 the place was devastated, before the 270 inhabitants of Schleenhain were resettled. The area of ​​the community was incorporated into the community of Hohendorf on September 1, 1965 , which was incorporated into Berndorf on January 1, 1974 . This was again incorporated into the town of Groitzsch in 1996 . The Schleenhain opencast mine has been operated as the United Schleenhain opencast mine since 1995 .
