The men's 110-meter hurdles at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles was held on August 5 and 6, 1984 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum . 26 athletes took part.
The American Roger Kingdom became Olympic champion . He won in front of his compatriot Greg Foster and the Finn Arto Bryggare .
Runners from the Federal Republic of Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein did not take part. Athletes from the GDR were also not there because of the Olympic boycott.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, the 26 participants were drawn in four runs. The first four athletes (highlighted in light blue) qualified for the semi-finals.
William Fong in run 4 was the first athlete to compete for the Pacific island nation of Samoa - here with the name Western Samoa - at the Olympic Games.
Greg Foster (USA) ran the fastest lead time with 13.24 s and set the Olympic record . The slowest time an athlete could take to qualify for the semifinals was 14.29s, which Chinese Li Jieqiang achieved in Run 3.

Three Americans, two Canadians, a Finn, a French and a Spaniard had qualified for the final.
Due to the Olympic boycott, the 1980 Olympic champion and 1982 European champion Thomas Munkelt from the GDR was not there. The 1983 world champion Greg Foster from the USA was the favorite .
Arto Bryggare from Finland and Mark McKoy from Canada got the fastest start in the final . McKoy hit the first hurdle and fell back. Foster took the lead on the second hurdle, Bryggare was almost tied. Foster's teammate Roger Kingdom came up and pulled past Bryggare. Kingdom had caught up with Foster at the last hurdle and was able to win the gold medal with a new Olympic record in the final meters . Behind Foster, Bryggare held third, ahead of McKoy.
In the 20th Olympic final, Roger Kingdom ran for the 16th US victory. At the same time it was the 12th double victory for the USA in this discipline.
Arto Bryggare won the first Finnish medal in the 110 meter hurdles .
