The Republic of China took under the name Chinese Taipei at the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Nagano with a delegation of seven athletes in three disciplines in part, six men and one woman. None of the athletes managed to win a medal.
The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was bobsledder Sun Kuang-ming .
