This article covers the Yugoslav Olympic football selection during the 1980 Summer Olympics .

Olympic qualification

Yugoslavia had a bye in the 1st round and moved into the decisive 2nd round. There they prevailed after three wins and one defeat due to the better goal difference against Italy and thus qualified for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow .

Games

With two wins in the preliminary round against Finland and Costa Rica as well as a draw against Iraq, Yugoslavia reached the quarter-finals. There they won a victory against Algeria, which was followed by a defeat against Czechoslovakia in the semifinals. In the game for 3rd place they lost to the host Soviet Union, which brought Yugoslavia fourth place in this tournament.
