Opernball is a 1939 film by the Hungarian director Géza von Bolváry based on the operetta of the same name by Richard Heuberger and is set in Vienna at the turn of the century.

action

Two women, Helene and Elisabeth, decide to put their husbands Paul and Georg to the test during the opera ball. At the same time, Georg hires Hanni, the maid, to get close to Paul, in revenge for the fact that Paul once paired Georg with a circus artist. Helene once loved the composer Stelzer and Elisabeth loved Paul, although she eventually married Georg.

At the Vienna Opera Ball , the masked Elisabeth witnessed Paul's advances and Georg that of his masked maid, behind whose mask he suspects his wife. Helene, who was unable to get close to Georg, passes the time with Stelzer. Head waiter Hatschek supplies Paul with a stimulant on behalf of Georgs. With Georg's uncle, who is in a private room with Georg's girlfriend, Hatschek has to make sure that things don't get too far. The day after, those involved initially reproach each other until everything is cleared up and marital peace is restored.
