The Ostedeichverband is a dike association based in Hemmoor .
history
The Ostedeichverband emerged in 2004 through a statutory ordinance of the Lüneburg district government from the previous Ostedeichverband III for the sub-area left of the Oste and the previous Ostedeichverband IV and their legal successors .
Association area
The Deichverband is responsible for an area of 37,800 hectares in the northeast of the district of Cuxhaven and parts of the district of Stade and the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) . The association area includes all plots of land under protection of the main dike on the Elbe , the protective dike on the Oste and the flank dike on the Fresenburg high water polder up to a height of +6.00 m above sea level, including the higher ground elevations within this area. It extends over the communities of Belum , Cadenberge , Wingst , Bülkau and Hechthausen as well as parts of the communities Geversdorf , Oberndorf , Mittelstenahe , Stinstedt , Lamstedt , Hollnseth , Armstorf and the small town of Hemmoor in the district of Cuxhaven as well as parts of the communities Alfstedt , Ebersdorf and Oerel , Parts of the city of Bremervörde and part of the communities of Basdahl , Gnarrenburg , Sandbostel and Ostereistedt located south and south-west of Bremervörde . Finally, the area at the eastern barrier belonging to the municipality of Balje in the district of Stade is also part of the association area.
The main dike line on the Elbe is 5.1 kilometers long, the protective dike line on the left bank of the Oste between the eastern barrier and the eastern weir in Bremervörde is 67.5 kilometers long. In addition, there are 0.86 kilometers of flanking dikes at the Fresenburg floodpole north of Bremervörde.
The association area of the Ostedeichverband borders in the west on the association area of the Hadelner Deich- und Uferbauverband and in the east on the association area of the Deichverband Kehdingen-Oste .
tasks
The dyke association has the task of protecting properties in the association area from storm surges and floods . To this end, he maintains the dikes on the Elbe and Oste in the association area.
The dykes are grazed with sheep, sometimes also with cattle, for care.
Club structure
The association is represented by a committee that is elected by the association members. The committee consists of 21 members. In turn, he elects a board of directors made up of nine board members. A personal representative is elected for each board member.
Members of the association are all landowners and leaseholders of the properties located in the association area.
