Ottenberg is a Franconian hamlet in the west of the natural landscape unit Veldensteiner Forst , which belongs to Betzenstein .

geography

The village is one of 23 officially named districts of the town of Betzenstein in the south of Upper Franconia . It is located about three kilometers north-northwest of Betzenstein and is at an altitude of 521  m above sea level. NHN .

history

The first written mention of Ottenberg took place in 1119 under the name Ortenberc . As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Ottenberg became an independent rural community with the second municipal edict in 1818, which also included the two villages of Höchstädt and Mergners and the hamlet of Kröttenhof . In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the entire municipality of Ottenberg was incorporated into the city of Betzenstein at the beginning of 1972. In 1987 Ottenberg had 31 residents.

traffic

A community road connects the place with the federal highway 2 , which runs about 300 meters south of the outskirts, another one runs past the northern outskirts. This unpaved road leads from the west of Weidenhüll near Leienfels in an easterly direction to federal highway 2. Access to federal highway 9 is possible at the Weidensee junction about five kilometers to the east.

In the Ottenberg corridor there are four listed boundary stones that marked the border of the high-jurisdiction districts between the rural areas of the imperial city of Nuremberg and the bishopric of Bamberg during the era of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation .
