It is surrounded by the streets Mient and Oude Haagweg . The medieval chapel ruin in the cemetery is a Rijksmonument under the number 17652.
history
Around 1247 Count Willem II of Holland had a chapel, called Eikenduinen , in memory of his father Count Floris IV . to build. The chapel was partially demolished in 1581, the tower ruins from the 15th century have been preserved. In the 17th century the area was used as a cemetery again.
When it became clear that (Old) Eik en Duinen was getting too small, the cemetery was expanded in 1891 under the name Nieuw Eykenduynen , where Willem Kloos is buried, among others . A petting zoo and an allotment garden border the edge of the cemetery .
