Pajumaa (German Paioma ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Lääneranna in Pärnu County (until 2017: rural municipality of Hanila in Lääne County ) in Estonia .

Population and location

The place has eleven inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is fourteen kilometers southwest of the city of Lihula .

history

In 1973 archaeologists found traces of a settlement from the second half of the first millennium BC near Pajumaa.

The Linnuse Castle Hill ( Linnuse maalinn ) was located northeast of the village in a former swamp area . It was the center of the historical parish between the 11th and 13th centuries .
