The village was called Tapuse in the Middle Ages . In 1564 it is recorded as Tappis . It got its current name from the Tuudi estate.

In the southern Marshes Tuudi ( Tuudi raba ) of the same river rises Tuudi ( Tuudi Jõgi ). It is a tributary of the Kasari .

railway station

The village was on the railway line that ran from the city of Rapla to the Virtsu ferry port on the Baltic Sea . The railway line was in operation from 1931 to 1968.

The former station building is still preserved. The two-storey type building in the style of functionalism has fallen into disrepair and is for sale.

Good from Tuudi

Tuudi Manor was founded in the 17th century. The first written sources come from 1688. For many years it was owned by the noble Baltic German families Gersdorff and since 1789 Edler von Rennenkampff .

The two-storey main building with its two jacketed chimneys was probably built at the end of the 18th century. It is located in what is now the Nurme district. There was evidence of a previous stone building dating back to the end of the 17th century. On the front and rear facade, a central projection forms a third floor. It is crowned by a gable . The outbuildings were heavily redesigned.

The last owner before the expropriation in the course of the Estonian land reform was Konstantin Edler von Rennenkampff. During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, the manor house was used to manage the local collective farm . It is now privately owned.
