Parker Lewis - Can not Lose school (AKA Parker Lewis Can not Lose ) is an American comedy - television series . It was first broadcast in the United States from September 1990 to June 1993 on Fox . The German-language first broadcast took place in February 1993 on ProSieben .

action

The series is about the three friends Parker Lewis, Mikey Randall and Jerry Steiner, who face the absurd problems of their teenage life with humor and as much coolness as possible . They are particularly troubled by the tyrannical high school principal Grace Musso and her right-hand man Frank Lemmer, the school bully Larry Kubiac and Parker's younger sister Shelly.

In many episodes, Parker, Mikey and Jerry have to come up with a fancy plan to save a completely messed up situation. Typical for the series is the surreal, comic-like joke: Jerry has a coat with countless helpful objects, Kubiac has superhuman physical strength and an underexposed, childlike mind, Miss Musso regularly breaks the window by throwing her office door. At the beginning of every episode there was a running gag , which was usually taken up again at the end, after the actual end of the episode. The background music with reggae music is also typical .

From the third season, the focus of the series was changed: the plot shifted from school to the private lives of the main characters. Parker now has a boyfriend named Annie. The changes were received ambiguously, as many popular elements such as the conflicts with Miss Musso were deleted.

characters

Parker Lloyd Lewis has a side parting from the second episode up to the beginning of the third season, usually wears Hawaiian shirts over carrot-shaped trousers and white sneakers. He wears his watch like Jerry Steiner on the right and works in his parents' video store Mondo-Video after school. He does not appear until the second lesson, which he excuses with absurd excuses (mostly in the form of faked TV reports played on Miss Musso's television). He helps Mikey with love affairs and deals in concert tickets, phonograms, sweets and drinks. In the third season, he returns to a hairstyle similar to that from the pilot episode. From then on he also has the nicknames “Park” and “Parky” and occasionally lacks the coolness to master difficult situations.

Mikey Randall is Parker's best friend. His dark, curly hair is teased upwards. He also wears faded jeans, a casual shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and tattered shoes. He plays the electric guitar and often uses the phrase “Cool thing, Parker!”. He works in the Atlas Diner.

Jerry Steiner is Parker's assistant. He is characterized by his nickel glasses , his coat with the inexhaustible repertoire of objects and the submissive attitude. He addresses Parker as "Mister Lewis, Sir" and fulfills all tasks assigned to him. In precarious situations it emits a startled "Eeek!" Whereupon it usually disappears in a flash. The repeated reference to his bar mitzvah shows that he comes from a Jewish family.

Shelly Lewis is Parker's little sister and is always out to hit him off. For this she also cooperates with Miss Musso. Parker can often turn the pranks around, leaving Shelly the real victim. She was once the girlfriend of Jerry Steiner and already in love with Mikey. Shelley often suffers from the popularity of her brother, who actually also plays the big brother in some episodes and helps her with some problems.

Francis Lawrence "Larry" Kubiac is 1.98 meters tall and weighs 140 to 178 kilograms and is on the high school football team. He is characterized by pounding running noises and a pitched voice. He has a gigantic appetite, but his intelligence is poor. He's often a gentle giant. He is sometimes manipulated a little by Parker Lewis in order to act on his behalf. A real demonstration does not take place, however, and Parker Lewis attaches great importance to being friendly with him. As a running gag there are always situations in which Larry says "Now Hungry" or "Larry Hunger" and he is then mostly fed by Jerry Steiner with a small wriggling fish.

Grace Musso is the high school principal. All of her actions are designed to scourge and discipline the students (and especially Parker and his friends). It is typical for her to open the office door when she has asked a student to come to her. The window in the door always breaks. She prefers men with big hands, which is often mentioned. In the third season, she is portrayed a little more meekly when her main focus is on finding a husband. After she found what she was looking for in episode 68 "Musso - The Wedding", her husband dies at the altar immediately after the wedding.

Frank Lemmer , Miss Musso's lackey, has his hair tied back in a braid and always wears black. Whenever Miss Musso needs him, he's there. Among other things, she alarms him with a dog whistle, which is inaudible to humans, whereupon he disappears from class. His attempts to beat Parker Lewis in the pan regularly backfire. Shelly, who would like to do something similar with Parker Lewis, thinks he is a vampire and never works with him. He is no longer involved in the third season.

Dr. Norman Pankow , the director of the El Corrado High School, appears for the first time in the first season as a substitute for the briefly suspended Miss Musso. He tries every opportunity to take advantage of them.

Annie Sloan is occasionally shown as Parker's boyfriend in season two and is a regular in season three. She enjoys dealing with children and she is a matchmaker.

Martin Lewis is the father of the Lewis siblings. He also went to Santo Domingo High School and plays the older version of the three main characters with his two friends. He lives for his video shop.

Judy Lewis is the mother in the Lewis family. When she wants to go back to university, her family's happiness puts her in serious danger.

Nick Comstock is a traveler who takes a job at the Atlas Diner and becomes a kind of "shrinker" for Parker and his friends. He is no longer involved in the third season.

Brad Penny is Parker's enemy in season three as he is held responsible for a prank in Parker's place. Shelly Lewis likes Brad Penny, the bricklayer with the SUV.

Coach Hank Kohler is the park ranger starting season three. He becomes Lawrence Kubiac's best friend and the owner of the Atlas Diner as the season progresses. Hank worships Miss Musso, although she keeps rejecting him.
