Pascal Schürpf (born July 15, 1989 in Basel ) is a Swiss football player who is under contract with FC Luzern in the Swiss Super League .

Career

Schürpf, who can be used in left midfield or in the storm, began playing football as a child with the Old Boys in Basel. In the E-youth he switched to local rivals FC Basel , where he went through the other age groups in the junior division. In the FCB U-21 team, he scored 32 goals in 42 games in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons. In summer 2008 he received a professional contract with FC Basel until June 30, 2011, which was extended early in April 2010 to June 30, 2014.

In January 2009 Schürpf was loaned to the Challenge League club Concordia Basel . Here in the second highest division in Switzerland he made his professional debut and played fourteen games by the end of the 2008/09 season, scoring five goals. After Concordia's forced relegation, he returned to FC Basel for the following season.

In January 2011 Schürpf was loaned to the Challenge League club FC Lugano for six months . He made his debut in Lugano in a 2-1 home win on February 21 against FC Vaduz . He scored his first goal for Lugano in the 3-2 away win on February 27 at FC Biel-Bienne . He returned to FC Basel for the 2011/2012 season .

In January 2012, Schürpf was loaned out again until the end of the season in order to collect match practice, this time to the Challenge League club FC Aarau . The loan deal should run until the end of the 2012/13 season, but Schürpf returned to Basel in summer 2012, where he was included in the U-21 team.

In February 2017 he moved to FC Luzern, where he signed a contract until the end of June 2019. The crowd favorite extended his contract prematurely on September 1, 2018 by one year until the end of June 2020.

On May 8, 2019, Pascal Schürpf and FC Luzern will announce the renewed contract extension until the end of June 2022. After Christian Schneuwly's departure, he was the team's captain in the preliminary round of the 2019/20 season .

National team

Schürpf completed various international junior matches for Switzerland. In the U-20 national team he played, among other things, as a strike partner of Mario Gavranović .
