Peter Anton von Korff

Peter Anton von Korff (born December 26, 1787 in Tromitten , † October 22, 1864 in Stargard ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of a Polish Rittmeister von Korff and his wife, a born von Kurowski.

Military career

Korff visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . Subsequently, on April 4, 1803, he was employed as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Puttkamer" of the Prussian Army and at the beginning of August 1805 advanced to portepeef ensign . As such, he took part in the Battle of Auerstedt during the Fourth Coalition War.

After the Peace of Tilsit , he was transferred to Colberger Infantry Regiment on September 6, 1808, and at the beginning of June 1809 he was promoted to second lieutenant . In the campaign against Russia in 1812 Korff fought in the battles near Eckau, Wollgund and Bausk. After the campaign he was transferred on foot to the 2nd Guards Regiment on June 19, 1813 and took part in the siege of Wittenberg and the battles at Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden and Leipzig during the wars of liberation . For his work in the Battle of Paris Korff received the Iron Cross 2nd class.

By the end of December 1815 he rose to the position of captain and company commander in the 33rd Infantry Regiment . This was followed from February 12, 1820, a use in the 34th Infantry Regiment , and on March 30, 1829 promotion to major . On March 3, 1830, Korff was reassigned to the 33rd Infantry Regiment and on November 21, 1830, the Guard Reserve Landwehr Regiment was aggregated . One year after being promoted to lieutenant colonel, he was commissioned on March 25, 1841 to lead the 9th Infantry Regiment and on September 29, 1841, Korff was appointed regiment commander. In this position he was promoted to colonel on April 7, 1842, was promoted to commander of the 4th Landwehr Brigade on March 27, 1847, and major general on May 10, 1848 .
