Pfaffenberg in the Oberbergischer Kreis is one of 51 localities in the city of Wiehl in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

The place lies between the places Wiehl in the north and Bierenbachtal in the south and is about 1 km as the crow flies from the city center of Wiehl. Pfaffenberg is located south of the federal motorway 4 .


  • The first written testimony from the Pfaffenberg parish is available from 1531. Bertram Hase, the chaplain to Wiehl, complains to the rulership of Homburg about the count's bailiff, whose people harass him and lead his horse away to Homburg.
  • In 1568 Georg Hollmann, the second Protestant pastor in Wiehl, lives on the Pfaffenberg, from whose income he and his family live.
  • In 1575 the homestead is recorded on the A. Mercator map Am Pfaffenberg .
  • The Wieden Hoff uff dem Paffenberg is mentioned in the fodder oat label of the Homburg rule from 1580 .
  • The name goes back to an old church property (parish) with a historical building that still exists today, belonging to the Protestant parish Wiehl until the 20th century. Origin in the word “dedicate”, dedicated to the Church, given to feed the pastor.
