Philipp Pinter (born January 18, 1985 in Villach ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player ( striker ).
In the course of his career he played over 600 games in the Austrian ice hockey league and was three times Austrian champion (one title with the EC VSV , two titles with the EC Red Bull Salzburg ).
Career
Philipp Pinter learned ice hockey in the offspring of the six-time Austrian champions EC VSV . Pinter started his ice hockey career at the age of six and went through all the VSV youth teams. He was able to play himself in the limelight as a great talent among the youngsters at an early age and finally made it into the professional team as the only VSV player of his year.
Success with the EC VSV
At the age of 16, Pinter made his debut in the Bundesliga team under coach Ron Kennedy and already made 21 appearances in his first season, which he ended with the Austrian championship title . He also played successfully in the junior championship, was invited to the U18 national team for the first time and finished the tournament in Maribor as the second best scorer for the Austrians. In the following two seasons he continued to play in the Bundesliga, where he was able to celebrate two runner-up titles, and in the VSV youth teams. He represented Austria at the U20 World Cup of Division I in Bled and made it to the top division of the World Cup with the U20 national team. In the following year , the Austrian team could not keep up in this, but Pinter was able to impress teammate Thomas Vanek with his performance , who then helped him to a commitment in the United States Hockey League .
Junior ice hockey in North America
In the summer of 2004, Pinter switched to the Des Moines Buccaneers, where he was unable to assert himself due to illness and bad luck with injuries. Recovered, he was able to convince in the team with Andreas Nödl and Michael Grabner at the U20 B World Cup and then moved to the Eastern Junior Hockey League to the Valley Junior Warriors. There he was able to put himself in the limelight and, after being eliminated in the play-offs, got the offer to return the following season. But meanwhile, legendary coach Hardy Nilsson had taken over the helm in Salzburg . With the prospect of being able to train under the Swede, Pinter moved back to Austria to EC Red Bull Salzburg .
Championship title with the EC Red Bull Salzburg
Philipp Pinter was able to establish himself quickly in the team and - despite a shoulder injury - he made 49 appearances in the fighting team. In the following season, the Bulls were able to improve further and won their first championship title. Pinter crowned the championship season with the choice of YoungStar of the year.
In the 2007/08 season , the signing of Pierre Pagé resulted in a further upgrade of the ice hockey location Salzburg. Philipp Pinter advanced to become a valuable team player who not only led the young up-and-coming players in the team, but was also consistently deployed in all special teams. After an eventful season in the EBEL, he was finally able to celebrate the Austrian championship title for the third time. With the invitation to the Austrian national team and his successful appearance at the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in Poland, he was able to look back on the most successful season of his career so far.
From 2010
After three seasons from 2010 to 2013 with the Vienna Capitals , he moved to Germany in August 2013 in the DEL2 to the Lausitzer Füchsen . After a year stint in Germany, the striker returned to Austria and signed a contract with the EC Graz 99ers .
Pinter was alternate captain in the 2014/15 season and team captain in 2015/16 of Graz, but they missed the play-off in both seasons. Since Pinter had achieved only three goals and nine assists in 54 missions in the last season, he was dismissed along with eight other players at the end of the season.
In October 2016, Pinter was signed for six games by the EC VSV. After the six games, the VSV extended with Pinter for a month. In January 2017 he announced the end of his career. At the U20 World Cup in 2018 , he was assistant coach for the Austrian juniors who played in the A group of Division I.
