Career

Andreas Nödl started his career at Wiener EV , where he worked through the entire youth department. During the NHL Entry Draft 2006 Nödl was selected in the second round as the 39th player of the Philadelphia Flyers . He had previously spent two years with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League , where he was elected to the USHL All-Star Team in 2006. After Thomas Vanek , who played there for three years, Nödl was the second Austrian in the club from South Dakota . He then spent two years on the St. Cloud State University NCAA team , the St. Cloud State University Huskies in St. Cloud , Minnesota . In his first season there, he was named Rookie of the Year .

Towards the end of the 2007/08 season Nödl was in the AHL - farm team of the Flyers, the Philadelphia Phantoms appointed, where he made his debut in professional hockey. Although he started the 2008/09 season in the AHL with the Phantoms , the Austrian was ordered to the NHL team on October 21, 2008 by the Flyers. In the 6-7 loss to the San Jose Sharks , his debut in the National Hockey League , the winger managed an assist .

On November 29, 2011 Nödl was put on the waiver list by the Philadelphia Flyers and selected by the Carolina Hurricanes . After a lockout in the North American NHL, Nödl gave a limited guest appearance at HC Innsbruck until November 4, 2012 . There he scored a total of 15 scorer points for the Tyroleans in 17 games. He then returned to the NHL and continued to play in Carolina until the end of the 2012/13 season . After a total of 195 games (15 goals, 21 assists) he left North America for Europe and initially completed try-outs at the Swiss clubs Lausanne HC and Kloten Flyers , but finally moved back to Austria for the KAC in October 2013 . There he only had a short-term contract until November and then moved within the Austrian ice hockey league to EC Red Bull Salzburg , where he was under contract until summer 2014. In October 2014 he was signed by the Vienna Capitals until the end of the season. In July 2015, after Markus Schlacher left , Nödl received a two-year contract extension. In August 2017 he was appointed the new captain of Vienna Capitals. On August 1, 2019, Nödl ended his active career.

International

For Austria, Nödl took part in the U18 Junior World Championships in Division I in 2003 , 2004 and 2005 . He was also part of Austria's squad at the U20 Junior World Championship in the top division in 2004 and U20 Junior World Championship in Division I in 2005 .

Nödl made his debut in the Austrian men's selection at the 2009 World Cup , when he was used on April 29 in the top division game against Latvia , which was lost 2-0. He played a total of four games at this world championship. It wasn't until five years later, at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , that he was nominated again for a major tournament.
