Destruction by Hurricane Irene

Two tributaries of the White River meet in Pittsfield and this caused great destruction in Pittsfield during Hurricane Irene . Pittsfield was one of the most hurricane-damaged areas in Vermont.

Religions

The Methodist Church organized a congregation in Pittsfield in 1805 and the Congregational Church in 1803.

The Vermont State Route 100 runs in a north-south direction along the eastern border of the Town, of Rochester to Killington and mostly follows the course of White River. The White River Railroad (Vermont) led with a freight line in one of the valleys of Pittsfield.
