Poddubnoje ( Russian Поддубное , German  Groß Keylau , Lithuanian Kailava ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg area (Prussia) ) and belongs to the Slavinskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Slavinsk (Goldbach) ) in Gwardeisk district ( Tapiau district ).

Geographical location

Poddubnoje is located on the Russian highway R 512 , nine kilometers from the district capital Gwardeisk (Tapiau) and 18 kilometers from the former district town of Znamensk (Wehlau) . Until 1945 the place was a train station on the Tapiau – Labiau (Russian: Gwardeisk– Polessk ) railway of the Wehlau – Friedlander Kreisbahnen .

The first mention of to 1946 United Keylau mentioned village took place in 1273. In the original United Keylau was a Prussian village, which in 1692 made three free goods and consisted of three interest rate goods. In 1910 there were 246 residents registered in Groß Keylau. Their number was 236 in 1933 and 218 in 1939.

As a result of the war, Groß Keylau was assigned to northern East Prussia in the Soviet Union in 1945 and in 1946 was given the Russian name “Poddubnoje”. In 1947 the place was incorporated into the newly created Gwardeisk Rajon ( Tapiau district ) and the [Slawinskoje (Kaliningrad) | Slawinski selski soviet] (village soviet Slawinsk (Goldbach) ). Today Poddubnoye with its current population of 52 (as of October 14, 2010) is classified as a “settlement” (Russian: possjolok) within the newly formed Slawinskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Slavinsk).

With its mostly Protestant inhabitants, Groß Keylau was parish before 1945 in the parish of the Goldbach Church (East Prussia) . It belonged to the church district Wehlau (today Russian: Snamensk) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
