occupation

Rosi's Baby is a TV film from the crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The film, produced for Bayerischer Rundfunk , was first broadcast on August 3, 2008. The Munich investigative team Tauber and Obermaier have to solve the manslaughter of a woman.

action

Rosi Drechsler, who lives with Down syndrome, and her mother Judith have an argument in a rest area restaurant. Then the mother leaves the restaurant and Rosi waits in vain for her return. When she goes looking for her, she finds her mother injured in the parking lot. Someone has knocked her down and she is seriously injured and taken to hospital, where she later succumbs to her injuries.

The inspectors Jürgen Tauber and Jo Obermaier determine. The survey by Rosi Drechsler initially yielded no clues. Even Rosi's father, from whom her mother has been divorced for a long time, cannot imagine who could have attacked his ex-wife.

After Tauber and Obermaier find out that Rosi is three months pregnant and that her mother was on the way to an abortion clinic with her, a motive for the crime becomes apparent. The commissioners want to clarify who the father of the child is and whether he might want to prevent the abortion. This is difficult at first. Obviously Rosi is with Claus Born, the disabled son of the dentist Dr. Robert Born becomes friends, which leads Tauber to the conclusion that he should be the father of Rosi's baby. Since Claus tends to be aggressive, he could well be considered a perpetrator. But Rosi persistently remains silent about the father of her baby. Tauber and Obermaier have to discard their suspicions when they learn that Claus Born has been sterilized for years. Allegedly Rosi was not aware of this either and so she reveals in her disappointment that her boyfriend Claus is not the father, that she would have slept with his father too.

Tauber and Obermaier confront Robert Born with their level of knowledge and he admits fatherhood. He would have wanted to convince Rosi's mother to take her daughter to an abortion clinic. Rosi's father would have helped him, he even paid him money so that he could influence his ex-wife, who still had scruples, in this regard. Obviously, this is the motive for the crime, because Rosi's father had financial problems and was dependent on this “bonus”.

When the investigators want to arrest Michael Drechsler on an urgent suspicion of manslaughter, he is on his way to an abortion clinic in the Czech Republic with his daughter . Since they are not allowed to act abroad without official administrative assistance, they cannot act quickly enough. When they reach the clinic, they can no longer save Rosi's baby, but they take her father into custody.

Reviews

In the Frankfurter Allgemeine Torsten criticized grains and says: "The film has a lot of stories in store. Thanks to Andreas Kleinert's intrusive direction, however, the straightforwardness is not lost. […] It is also thanks to the script by Matthias Pacht and Alex Buresch that this pair of lovers [in the story of the film] come together so convincingly. The authors not only sound out the language of love, they also question our semantics. Maybe we are the 'mistakes' and the others are 'right'? Are we, the non-disabled, rather the prevented people? Aren't we the ones who need Rosi's help? The film does not give any striking answers, but it helps to overcome barriers. "

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv says: “'Rosi's Baby' is a twisty thriller that grows into a family drama. In everything, however, the 'problem child' Rosi remains the focus. It is the heart of the case, the asset. In this wintry 'police call' from Munich, she occasionally leads the inspectors onto the ice, but she also provides the necessary 'heat supply'. And it lets the so insensitive deaf discover a completely new side of himself. "

“The search for the perpetrator and the child's father stirs up tension. But the crime thriller does the trick of making this search completely forgotten for a while. Spellbound we follow Rosi in her world and see how Tauber loses his heart to her. The film is extremely discreet, you never get the feeling that emotion is being stolen from us cheaply. And finally you worry right to the end: Will Rosi be able to keep her baby? "
