Primož Prošt (born July 14, 1983 in Trbovlje ) is a Slovenian handball player .

Career

Primož Prošt played for the Slovenian club RK Rudar Trbovlje until 2004 and then until 2008 for Gorenje Velenje . Then the 1.86 meter tall handball goalkeeper moved to the Danish club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg . From 2011 Prošt was under contract with the French first division club Montpellier AHB , with whom he became champions in 2012.

In September 2012, the French judiciary opened an investigation against eight players from Montpellier, including Primož Prošt, on suspicion of fraud. The team is said to have purposely lost a game in the French league in order to enable relatives of the players to win high betting winnings of up to 200,000 euros. As a result, Prošt was dismissed from Montpellier. From February 2013 he was under contract with the German Bundesliga club Frisch Auf Göppingen . With Göppingen he won the EHF Cup in 2016 and 2017 . In summer 2019 he moved to the Wilhelmshaven AG . A year later he joined the Bundesliga club TV Bittenfeld .

Prošt is a member of the Slovenian national team , with which he participated in the 2012 European Championships in Serbia and the 2013 World Cup in Spain .
