Christian Zeitz (born November 18, 1980 in Heidelberg ) is a German handball player .
Career
Christian Zeitz, who has two older brothers, started playing handball at the age of six at TSV Östringen. Even as a youth player, he emerged as a talented exceptional player. In 2001 Zeitz lost from 112 kg to 87 kg body weight in three months after he was no longer invited to the junior national team. At the age of 18 he started playing in the 1st team ( 2nd Bundesliga ). In 2002 the TSV Östringen merged with the TSG Kronau to form SG Kronau / Östringen (later known as Rhein-Neckar-Löwen), for which it became from then on. In the 2002/03 season he was also eligible to play for the then Bundesliga club SG Wallau / Massenheim due to a second game right . After Zeitz was promoted to the first Bundesliga with SG Kronau / Östringen , he moved to THW Kiel , with whom he was nine times German champion in eleven years and won the DHB Cup six times and the EHF Champions League three times . In 2014 he left the zebras and went to the Hungarian record champions MKB-MVM Veszprém .
From the 2016/17 season Zeitz played again at THW Kiel. On February 16, 2018, he was suspended from gaming because there were disagreements with the club over the term of his contract. In court, both parties agreed to terminate the contract at the end of the season. The court had found that Zeitz was employed on a permanent basis. Kiel paid 75,000 euros in compensation and removed his likeness from the ancestral gallery in Kiel's hall.
Zeitz then continued his career in the 3rd division with SG Nussloch . In February 2020 - after the bankruptcy of Nussloch - it was announced that Zeitz will return to the Bundesliga and play for the TVB Stuttgart .
Christian Zeitz is particularly well-known for his unconventional style of play, which earned him the name “street handball player”. He is known for his massive "left hammer".
In the German national team , Christian Zeitz made 166 appearances from 2001 to 2008. For the world championship title in 2007 he was awarded the silver bay leaf . After the Olympic Games in 2008 , he ended his international career due to physical strain and differences with the then national coach Heiner Brand .
