Prenčov (German Prinzdorf or Preitzdorf , Hungarian Berencsfalu - until 1892 Prencsfalu ) is a municipality in the center of Slovakia with 661 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Banská Štiavnica , a district of Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The community is located in the southeastern part of the mountains Štiavnické vrchy on the river Štiavnica . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 325 m nm and is 14 kilometers south of Banská Štiavnica .
history
Prenčov was first mentioned in writing in 1266 as Princh , derived from the same personal name. It belonged to the Hont-Pázmány dynasty, then to the territory of the Sitno Castle , in modern times to Koháry and Coburg. The population was engaged in agriculture and forestry, in the 19th century in lace and until 1950 in milling.
