history

İlçe Pursaklar, which was only founded in 2008, is one of the youngest İlçe in Ankara Province, but the place looks back on a long history. The old name of the village, founded in 1463 by members of the Oghusian tribes, was Busaklar . The word Busak or Busağ roughly means terrace. Originally the village is said to have been in the Çubuk plain . 150-200 years ago, the residents are said to have fled from robbers and their attacks to the place where the Eskiköy settlement is today . After landslides, Pursaklar was moved to its current location in 1966. According to a document from 1530, the village was in the Kaza (Ottoman judicial district and administrative forerunner of İlçe) of Çubuk and partly formed a Tımar , partly it belonged to the foundation of Melike Hatun Medresesi in Ankara, also known as “Karamedrese” .

After the establishment of the Republic of Turkey , Pursaklar, which has experienced rapid population growth since the Turkish Liberation War , belonged to the İlçe Keçiören . In 1987 Pursaklar achieved the status of a Belediye and in 2008 it was elevated to İlçe itself.
