Güdül is a municipality in the Turkish province / city of Ankara , the area of which coincides with that of the İlçe (state administrative district) of the same name .

The municipality belongs to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi) and forms one of its districts. Güdül is 90 km from the center of Ankara and, despite its status as part of a metropolis, offers the impression of a rural district. It is enclosed in the south and southeast by the İlçe Ayaş , in the west by the İlçe Beypazarı and borders in the north and northeast on Kızılcahamam and Çamlıdere . The area is mountainous and lies in the transition region from the Central Anatolian highlands to the western Pontic mountains and the Black Sea region. The cultivation of fruit and vegetables (preferably table grapes, cherries, tomatoes and carrots) is becoming more important.

Various Türben , the valley of the Kirmir Çayı with its caves and the houses built in traditional architectural style attract tourist interest . There are also remains from the Galatian, Roman and Byzantine periods.

The name of the village comes from its founder Şahabüddevlet Güdül Bey , the brother-in-law of the Seljuk sultan Mas'ud I and his governor of Ankara. In 1496 the village of Güdül is mentioned in a deed of foundation of Sultan Bayezids II .

In 1933 Güdül became the center of a newly founded Nahiye des İlçe Ayaş and in 1957 its own İlçe.
